This proposed My Passport update uses the existing base and a new top fitted with a Eink screen, battery, new molded top, and a fun UI that allows the user to change their drives top visual to the pattern of the day or notifications from your phone.

E Ink's technology is commonly referred to as "bistable" What does this mean? Bistable means that the image on an E Ink screen will be retained even when all power sources are removed. In practice, this means that the display is consuming power only when something is changing. For example, for the below graphic to be displayed, power is only needed drawing the graphic but no power is consumed by the display if the graphic remains static. This is most noticeable when an eReader goes into sleep mode yet there is still an image being displayed.

Working Prototype

The above Eink prototype hooks up to a pc and images/top graphic can be changed just by dragging and dropping.

Have your phone send your drive updates every minute for a simple secondary display

Wirelessly connect to your Raspberry PI for a quick, low res display
