Custom OSO 12" grrrr. Retro. Unique. Timeless.

Updated: Sep 26

OSO means the low rumble of the California brown bear. The Custom 12" OSO, with a single active ultra-low distortion driver, is paired up with two matching passive radiators. This subwoofer can move massive amounts of air to provide outstanding output for its size. This is my key design point, sealed cabinets that use passive radiators are more compact when compared to its larger ported brother.

This project had a distinct purpose. To pair nicely with the trend of speaker companies reissuing 1950's to 1970's floor standing home theater speakers. The sound of this speaker is modern and tight - something that heritage speakers cannot produce. The OSO design is meant to pair visually with mid century furnishings and sounds. Light and fast ALUMINUM drivers produce the omni waves. Timeless Design!

Dimensions: 16.5" wide - 10" deep - 30" tall

0.5 dB efficient driver with 500 watt amplifier combines for excellent output capability

Passive radiator assisted design extends bass response and improves output

The Final OSO layout with vertical grill

Magnetic grill grips to the front face at 6 points. The grill is 50% open and air flows freely as each driver moves. Standard cloth grills have a measurable resistance which creates a drop in efficacy and driver response.
