Wrap the concrete jungle

Updated: Apr 19, 2019

Building wraps are just what they sound like. They are giant almost billboard-like advertisements that are attached to buildings in order to catch the attention of an audience. Post explores proposed imagery that would be placed on the newly erected parking structures that blocks mountain views and light from 3 stories of windows.

Wrap would face Western Digital buildings and give a splash of color and product asset awareness to employees and visitors.

Who has control of your data? I thought of this approach when Facebook had their 2018 privacy issues. With our prime Irvine location, why not tell everyone on the 405 that if you keep your life on a My Cloud Home, a cloud that lives in your home, you have complete control over who has access to your data.

This dive into building wraps came from the Los Angeles wraps that are used around LAX and downtown to promote movies and wraps that hide construction project. I wanted to propose an advertising approach that would take in to account our amazing location and give eye catching visuals and information to the MILLIONS of travelers that pass our building on the 405 each and every day. This post shows the initial proposal. That being said, the city permits, city approvals, building permits, and on and on shut this exploration down due to lack of marketing funds.

Reach and Frequency

Building wraps are a great source of advertising when it comes to reach and frequency. Because the wrap is up all year long and visible 24 hours of the day and seven days a week the advertisement will be able to achieve a very high reach within the first few days of it being posted. Many different people will walk and drive by each day depending on the location of your wrap. Also, as the wrap is visible for longer, your reach will drop but your frequency will rise because of the same consumers walking or driving to work every day and seeing the advertisement everyday. Because of this you would want to make sure that you had an eye-catching ad in order to get their attention from the clutter of others as well as so the consumer does not get bored or annoyed with the ad.
