Raspberry pi audio

Updated: Apr 19, 2019

WD Labs partnered with JustBoom to co-develop a stand alone audio player for the home. The Raspberry Pi pcb is used as the main compute center with the JustBoom Amp HAT, lcd, and an HDD ( full of uncompressed audio files) attached to the Pi. This device can also use any smart device (from Volumio app) to que up a playlist that runs from the internal HDD - NO streaming.

Ten years ago, MP3 players revolutionized the role music played in our lives. The MP3 was a form of audio that could allow thousands of songs to be loaded onto a single portable player. Rather than needing hundreds of discs and vinyls, we could carry our entire music library with us to listen to anytime, anywhere, at an affordable price. But we abandoned the true quality of high definition music.

The MagPi - Review

“Delivering audiophile sound at an affordable price, the well-designed DAC HAT is an impressive piece of kit. It offers a huge improvement in quality over the Pi's standard 3.5mm audio jack, and playing back lossless formats..”

The amazing thing about this design is how versatile is it. This can be assembled with or with out a display - with HDD - with usb flash memory - with vertical stand - lay flat option - display on top or side mount.
